Situated in Alaotra Mangoro, about 141 km from Tana, Mantadia National Park is part of one of the protected areas of Andasibe. The endemic and exceptional fauna of Mantadia
Many animals are listed within the park. Some are endemic while others are endangered. Finding refuge in the heart of this protected area, these animals find their own happiness and are the object of several studies and observations by various researchers from all over the world. During your visit, do not miss:
- The lemurs Aye-Aye, Indri Indri, Varika Mavo as well as other lemurs cohabiting with these first three. A priori, we also see the lemurs Varecia, Avahi and Eulemur.
- Chameleons are also many to Mantadia. The Calumma is the biggest of all species, sheltering in trees and easy to observe in hot season
- Endemic birds such as Pila and Triotrio are the most remarkable. The Malagasy Baza raptor is also present in the park despite being difficult to observe. Among the endangered species of birds, you will surely cross the Crossleyia xanthophrys, a bird with yellow eyebrows easy to observe in this site.
- The snake Boa or Manditra, which arouses fear and terror in some visitors. Yet it is part of the park's richness.

- Endemic fish are less well known but also present in Mantadia. These are the Ratsirakia legendrei and Rheocles alaotrensis. According to the International Union for Conservation of Nature, these two fish are disappearing.
The variety of flora inventoried to Mantadia
Apart from the fauna, Mantadia is also a sanctuary for many endemic plants of the island. The big forest is the domain of several species of orchids, lianas, other invasive plants and some plantations from foreign countries. For a guided tour, discover:
